Week 2: Start Em' & Sit Em'

Writer's picture: Vincenzo SciacquaVincenzo Sciacqua

Week 1 is officially in the books and it did not disappoint. We would like to start of by saying thank you for coming back to us for your fantasy football questions and lineup decisions. This week features some great matchups that should really create some great fantasy numbers. As always we will be on twitter all day on Sunday answering all your lineup and trade questions!

QB Starts

Joe Burrow at Chicago Bears

  • The Bears Defense wasn’t able to stop the air attack from Stafford and the Rams in week 1 so Burrow is in a solid matchup this week. Burrow looked comfortable with his weapons and finished the week with 261 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Vikings. Burrow has the ability and playmakers around him to have top QB weeks and against a Bears defense who gave up 3 touchdowns and 300 yards through the air last week he is set up perfectly to lead your Fantasy team to victory.

Baker Mayfield vs Houston Texans

  • Baker Mayfield looked great in the opening week of the season as he threw for 321 (scoreless) yards against the Chiefs. The Texans looked great against an Urban Meyer led Jags team last week but still gave up over 330 yards and 3 TDs to Rookie Trevor Lawrence. Baker will be in a plus matchup and will look to find the end zone a couple times on Sunday morning.

QB Sit

Tua Tagovailoa vs Buffalo Bills

  • Tua is going up against a Bills defense that didn’t quite show up in week 1 against the Steelers but the unit in Buffalo is definitely one who is capable of bouncing back and making life difficult for Tua. Tua only completed 16 passes for just over 200 yards in the league's opening week but without Will Fuller stretching the field Tua’s upside is limited.

RB Starts

Chase Edmonds vs Minnesota Vikings

  • Chase Edmonds had 16 total touches for 106 combined yards in the Cardinals week 1 win against the Titans. The Vikings had a tough time stopping Joe Mixon last week as he torched them for 150 total yards and a TD on 33 touches. Edmonds will have a role as a pass catcher and lead back and has the big play upside you are looking for in your FLEX or RB2 spot.

Chris Carson vs Tennessee Titans

  • Chris Carson had 19 touches last week (including 3 catches) so we know Pete Carroll trusts him and with the injury to Rashaad Penny he should be on the field a ton. Carson’s 117 yards is a perfect floor for a player who has the ability to score in a high powered offense like the Seahawks.

RB Sit

Mike Davis vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • This one is quite simple, the Falcons will have no chance in this one and will be behind quickly. Over the last 25 games there has only been 1 RB who has rushed for over 100 yards against the Buccaneers and I don’t see Mike Davis being the next on the list.

WR Starts

DeVonta Smith vs San Francisco 49ers

  • The 49ers defense is banged up and will be missing their CB1 in this matchup. Jalen Hurts wasted no time in getting the Rookie involved as he had 6 catches (on 8 targets) for 71 yards and his first career touchdown. Smith looked very good in his NFL debut and looks to show that he is the Eagles WR1 of the future against a banged up 49ers defense who almost gave away the game to the Detroit Lions.

Tee Higgins vs Chicago Bears

  • Like I mentioned before, the Bears defense could not stop the Rams offense in week 1 and Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins will look to continue their solid start to the 2021 season. Ja’Marr Chase looked phenomenal in his NFL debut and teams will need to start scheming for him. Joe Burrow has trust with Tee Higgins in big moments in The NFL and while Chase is looking to get more comfortable, Higgins will continue to be a contributor to your Fantasy Football rosters.

WR Sits

Brandin Cooks at Cleveland Browns

  • The Houston Texans looked better than anyone could have predicted in week 1 but against a top tier opponent like Cleveland we should see the Texans everyone expected. Cooks will be shadowed by Denzel Ward and the Browns pass rush will not give tyrod taylor enough time to get the ball down field where Cooks thrives.

TE Start

Noah Fant at Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Noah Fant led the Broncos in Targets and with the injury to Jerry Juedy there’s a wide open door for double digit targets against a Jags team who gave up 4 catches for 67 yards to Pharaoh Brown (a TE who plays for Houston)

TE Sit

Zach Ertz vs San Francisco 49ers

  • Ertz is banged up and with Dallas Goedert looking like he fits better with Jalen Hurts, Ertz will be limited even if he's on the field. There should be much better options available on your waiver wire.
