Writer's picture: Ryan MobleyRyan Mobley

Let's get this out of the way. Zach “The Chico Hulk” Binsfeld has taken home the Pick Em’ crown in back to back seasons with a lethal 56-41 record in 2021. We bring back an energized crew with more spreads, dogs, and most importantly – Winners.

Week 1 is setting up to be a gauntlet with a surplus of storylines and moments of revenge. This year's format will include 4 set games picked by vote every week which will be worth 1 point each. The newest addition will be the “Dawg of the Week” where each analyst will pick a team to upset, if the underdog wins you rack up 2 points. Everything under this text represents the downfall of the 2x champ, enjoy and follow us @TheUpsidePlay on twitter for picks and analysis all season long.

Buffalo Bills @ Los Angeles Rams – BUF -2.5 / O/U 52.5

The Upside Play’s top 2 teams in the power rankings meet up in the first game of the season, fasten your seatbelts. After a heartbreaking end to the season for Buffalo, they enter the year as consensus favorites to win the 2023 Super Bowl. Star QB Josh Allen enters as the odds on favorite to take home MVP honors, and Stefon Diggs is poised to go for his 5th straight 1,000 yard year. The Rams are coming off a magical season which saw Matt Stafford take home his first ring after being stuck in Detroit for a decade. Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp lead the position players out into battle after immaculate seasons, Kupp’s being one of the best ever from a WR. Elbow concerns have been noted throughout the offseason for Matt Stafford, & we also have to note the departures of Von Miller and Odell Beckham jr. LA will rely on veteran Allen Robinson II and Bobby Wagner to keep the championship momentum going with one of the toughest schedules in the league.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Dallas Cowboys – TB -2 / O/U 51

The two highest powered offenses in 2021 meet in week 1 as Tampa Bay travels to Dallas on Sunday Night Football. The Bucs enter the season as favorites to win the NFC despite what should be a completely revamped IOL after losing both guards to free agency and Center Ryan Jensen to injury. Add in Tom Brady having a dramatic offseason for the record books.. We’re going to have some fun stories with this team. Dallas starts at home with some key injuries/losses to the receiving core, they will rely heavily on Micah Parsons getting pressure and an immediate impact from their two headed monster at RB.

Las Vegas Raiders @ Los Angeles Chargers – LAC -3 / 52.0

This is going to be a thriller. The Raiders both punched their playoff ticket and ruined their division rivals dreams in week 18 last year on a last second field goal. The Raiders had a monster offseason nabbing Davante Adams and Chandler Jones but still have some work to do in the trenches + secondary before they are considered title contenders. Regardless it was a hell of a start. The Chargers are expected to make a massive leap as they invested heavily into their defense grabbing Khalil Mack and JC Jackson. This already high powered offense has massive potential behind one of the league's top young QB’s, Justin Herbert.

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings – GB -1 / 47.0

Speaking of Davante Adams.. This Packers WR room is a concern to say the least. The line has been creeping lower and lower as we near a pick 'em between these two division rivals. Green Bay does bring back a legit defense and the back to back MVP, so I wouldn't be overly concerned about their well being in the NFC North. Their secondary will be busy trying to hold Justin Jefferson & Adam Thielen… and then there’s Dalvin Cook, a consensus top RB in football. This Vikings team is dangerous offensively, but does have some massive holes on the other side of the ball. Look for their leaders in the secondary to be the main x-factors in this one.
