3 NFL stats we didn't see coming

Let me preface by saying, yes, there are plenty of more meaningful and intricate numbers we could be utilizing for this list. That’s the beauty of this short exercise. Let’s look at players who have shined early on and award some recognition that the general football media hasn’t given them yet.

Side note: Puka Nacua and Tutu Atwell definitely should’ve been mentioned here at some point but they’ve both been on the forefront of surprising players recognized so I decided to leave out a WR stat.

Side Side Note: All stats were gathered via PFF.com

Missed Tackles Forced among RB’s

Zack Moss very well could have been the inspiration for this entire list. The guy missed week 1 and still cracks the top 5 in multiple rushing stat categories. His 30 carry performance last week on the road against a good Baltimore defense was extremely impressive. Who knows what we’ll see out of this backfield with Jonathan Taylor (Maybe) and Anthony Richardson back into the mix. What we do know is Zack Moss and D’andre Swift have suddenly emerged as more than desirable RB’s who can make you miss frequently.

1. Zack Moss (16)

1. Christian McCaffrey (16)

3. D’Andre Swift (15)

3. Travis Etienne (15)

Best Completion % when blitzed

This stat is mainly here to talk about how insane Justin Herbert is at processing the field and delivering with accuracy. Only 2 other QB’s have 50 or more attempts while being bltized: Brock Purdy (58.5 comp %) and Jalen Hurts (63.5 comp %). Also Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are both leading the league in Yards After Catch against man coverage, Herbie has been money.

1. Justin Herbert - 82.1% (56 Attempts)

2. Josh Allen - 80% (25 Attempts)

3. Derek Carr - 76% (25 Attempts)

4. Dak Prescott - 75% (24 Attempts)

5. Kirk Cousins 71% (46 Attempts)

QB Hurries among Interior Defensive Lineman

I needed to find a way to show the 49ers some love on this post. I honestly never imagined Javon Kinlaw being as productive as he’s been to start year 4. Clearly, its easier to generate pressure when you’re playing with 3-4 other studs on the defensive line but Kinlaw's efforts will not go unnoticed! Also Jalen Carter is already a massive problem and we all hate the Bears for letting him go to a stacked D-Line and legit contender for the foreseeable future.

1. Jalen Carter (12)

2. Christian Baramore (10)

2. Javon Kinlaw (10)

2. Jonathan Allen (10)

2. Javon Hargrave (10)

2. Aaron Donald (10)

* All 6 of these players have a true win % on pass rushes of 17% or higher (top 15 mark)

Thats all folks, I'll try to drum up 4 more stats for next week - Ryan Mobley / Upside Play
