2020 Fantasy Basketball Breakout Players

Writer: Vincenzo SciacquaVincenzo Sciacqua

Fantasy Basketball is upon us and in this piece we’ll try to identify some breakout NFL players to target on draft day. With these breakouts I looked at players who are being drafted outside of the top 100 ADP on Fantasy Pros. These are players that you can take in the back half of your draft that can give you good depth or a solid starter on your roster.

PG- Coby White, Chicago Bulls

Coby White was playing a ton of minutes late in this season for a Chicago Bulls team who didn’t sniff playoff contention. The Bulls didn’t add a guard in the draft or free agency so it looks like they are confident in giving White all the minutes he can handle. In his rookie year he averaged 13.2 points 2,7 assists and 3.5 rebounds. There’s major upside in taking White and we could see him with averages closer to 18 Pts and 5 assists this season.

SG- Donte DiVincenzo, Milwaukee Bucks

DiVincenzo slides into the starting role this season and with the loss of Irsan Illyasova, Wesley Mathews and Eric Bledsoe he could his minutes increase from less than 24 to, hopefully, 30 minutes a game. Playing alongside Giannis, Middleton and Holiday it should open the floor for DiVincenzo and let him get easier shots up.

SF- OG Anunoby, Toronto Raptors

Anunoby made the most of his opportunity last season after Kawhi Leonard bolted to the Clippers in Free Agency. In his 3rd NBA season he saw his minutes jump up from 20 to 29 which led to 10.2 points 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka left this season which could open up more shots for Anunoby. Being drafted outside of the top 100 is an easy smash on the draft button with his upside of a top 100 player.

PF- PJ Washington. Charlotte Hornets

PJ Washington had a great rookie season with averages of 12.2 / 5.2 / 1.6. Charlotte brought in Gordon Hayward this offseason which might scare some people off but coach James Borrego has come out and said he plans to play PJ Washington at center “ A ton”. With SF/PF eligibility Washington has a ton of potential to see rebounding numbers go up as long as his minutes stay in the 30’s, which I expect them to do.

C- Aron Baynes, Toronto Raptors

Aron Baynes is a solid center who saw career highs with 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds in only 22 minutes a night for Phoenix last season. Baynes signed a free agent contract with the Toronto Raptors who lost Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka. I expect Baynes to match or even exceed the 22 minutes a night. Baynes can see an increased role in the raptors offense and with your last round pick he is a great option to have and you will be happy with the return on that investment.
