#18 Florida St. (5-1) @ Clemson (6-1) || 4:00 PM PT
Current Lines: Clem -1.5 || O/U 130.5
Clemson is one of the best teams currently sitting outside of the top 25. They have a balanced scoring attack that is led by 6’8 senior forward Aamir Simms. Clemson’s key to success is their tough defense that allows just 53.4 points per game and averages 9.0 steals a ball game. Some big time wins for the Tigers so far include Purdue and Alabama. We’re still waiting to find out how legit this team is and a true top 25 opponent this week will be a solid test for Clemson and the depth of the ACC.
Florida State is deep! They have 9 players that average at least 10 minutes a game, which is surprising considering their 2 lottery picks in last year's draft. Star senior M.J. Walker is averaging 16 points per game and shooting above 41% from beyond the arc. Freshman Scottie Barnes is currently ranked in the top 10 of most 2021 NBA mock drafts, he’ll improve steadily as the season continues. As a team the Seminoles average just north of 75 points per game, they’re going to bring a dynamic offense and a bunch of bodies in this matchup.
Current Lines: Iowa -11.0 || O/U 160.5
The Big 10 is as deep as ever this year as the conference currently has 8 teams ranked in the top 25. Northwestern has a great resume thus far with several big time wins including Ohio State, Michigan State, and Indiana. Northwestern is relatively young, led by sophomore guard Boo Buie. Buie is averaging 14.4 points per game, shooting 50% from deep, and has 5.3 assists per game. They’re currently on a 4 game winning streak and looking to continue the upset trend against Iowa.
Iowa spent a couple weeks ranked #3 earlier this year. They have a few Wooden Award candidates in senior Luka Garza and junior Joe Wieskamp. Garza finished in the top 5 of last year's player of the year race, he currently has 28.8 points per game to go along with 10 rebounds per game. This Iowa squad is deep, they will consistently play 9 guys and love to get the ball on the block to their big men. Iowa averages 14.9 offensive rebounds per game, good for 9th in Division I. The Hawkeyes lead the NCAA in assists per game, with a team total of 22.0 per.
