Welcome back to our NFL Rankings list where we give you our top 16 teams in order week by week. Rankings will be based off of what we’ve seen on the field so far, strength of schedule, and what team you would not want to see your team go up against. We had a couple of huge matchups in week 9 that helped shape this list like the Bills beatdown on the Seahawks, the Dolphins hanging on against Arizona, New Orleans dismantling Brady’s offense, and the Ravens defense shutting down Indy. The list is compiled by our 6 writers collaborating to create an unbiased look at the NFL’s Top 16, Enjoy!
Climbing - Two Teams cracked the climbing chart this week, the Saints and Dolphins were big risers after big time road wins this week. The Saints looked like they were playing a college team Sunday night as Drew Brees threw for four TD’s and Taysom Hill was the swiss army knife New Orleans has come to know and love. The offense looked well balanced with elite WR Michael Thomas getting back into the mix and their defense held a top tier offense to 3 points, forcing 3 turnovers along the way. The Dolphins were bailed out by a miraculous missed game tying field goal, but that cant discredit the fantastic effort and play we saw from Tua this week. He showed escapability, accuracy, and leadership that is typically foreign to rookie QB’s in his performance in Arizona. The Miami defense produced another score via scoop and score and did just enough to maintain Kyler Murray and the dynamic Cardinal offense, Miami looks to be on the rise.
Crashing - This one shouldn’t come as any surprise, what in the world happened to Brady and the elite Tampa Bay offense? We expected their defense to have a tough time guarding Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara but they looked awful in every facet of the game Sunday night. The different lineups Sean Payton threw at them was incredibly effective as they had 31 points at the half. The Bucs defense has been the best in the league against the run heading into week 9 and they gave up almost double the amount of yards teams typically average. Tom Brady and the debut of Antonio Brown also didn’t go as planned, he found AB 3 times but wasn’t able to put together a solid drive all night. This is a classic put it in the rear view mirror game for Bruce Arians, expect a hungry and angry Tampa team next week against the Panthers.
