New Orleans Saints (2-0) @ Green Bay Packers (1-1)
Spread: GB -1.5 || O/U 42.5
I’ve been meaning to power rank the 9 teams that are 2-0 or better, spoiler alert: The Saints would be close to the bottom of that list. New Orleans has been known for its gritty defense and QB carousel since the departure of Drew Brees. I watched their new $150 million dollar man stare down triple coverage and still let it loose last week, don’t hold your breath Saints fans. The Packers on the other hand have been a pleasant surprise despite the narrative of being a rebuilding team. Although they did have a multi-score 4th quarter meltdown last week. Regardless Jordan Love has exceeded his expectations early on and gets a test against one of the top passing defenses in the league this Sunday. Should be sunny and 70 in Green Bay this weekend with two QB’s that have big arms.

Los Angeles Chargers (0-2) @ Minnesota Vikings (0-2)

Here we have a classic, “loser goes home” game in week 3. Okay not really but an 0-3 start for either of these teams would be a disaster as both had legit playoff aspirations coming into the year. Neither have looked terrible either, but the common denominator here is the inability to finish drives in crunch time. Minnesota ranks dead last in both turnovers and turnover differential. The Chargers lead the league in yards allowed and have proved that their high powered offense needs a little help from the other side. This one is going to be a shootout and should look a lot like the Big 12 except on Sunday.

When I initially checked out the primetime schedule this one had me puzzled. I am now very grateful that the schedule makers are making the world watch TJ Watt vs. Jimmy G. Both teams have had a “Tale of two weeks”, essentially playing polar opposite football games in consecutive games. The Steelers offense needs to build momentum this week as they finally have an opposing defense with some glaring weaknesses. On the flip side the Raiders desperately need to force a takeaway (0 on the year) and control the time of possession on Sunday night. This one is a perfect clash of styles with offenses that currently sit among the worst in the league.
