Welcome back to the Upside Play’s NFL Power Rankings! If that Monday night thriller doesn’t have you juiced for playoff football then you’re on the wrong site. The Ravens and Browns battled last night in a drama filled primetime matchup, Lamar Jackson channeled his inner Paul Pierce and came running down the tunnel after an injury (mid-game poop), and led his Ravens to a 47-42 victory. The Steelers struggled offensively again and the Pittsburgh faithful has got to be questioning their 11-2 “Dream Team”. The Washington Football Team held off Shanahan & co, securing first place in the NFC East. This week was a great preview for January football, the pretenders and contenders are making themselves known down the stretch, and the playoff race is more than likely going to come down to good ole week 17!
Climbing: The Washington Football Team is on a 4 game heater, and their defense looks legit! They had two defensive touchdowns last week against the 49ers and their rookie Chase Young has looked flat out unstoppable the last couple weeks. Logan Thomas is a versatile TE who has been showing out of late for them offensively, leading the team in receptions last week when there weren’t many to go around. If they can get rookie Antonio Gibson and Alex Smith healthy and hungry this team is going to have a home playoff game with a very stingy defense.
Crashing: It’s hard to claim an 11-2 team is “crashing” but we have to be realistic here, The Pittsburgh Steelers offensively have looked awful the past two games. They haven’t been able to establish their running game and control the time of possession, rushing for just 47 yards against the Bills. Big Ben also has been shaky, throwing 3 INT’s in the last two weeks. The loss of Bud Dupree does hurt the top defense in the NFL, but if they can’t establish the run, and continue to drop passes, it might be a short playoff run for Pittsburgh.
