Week 1 has come and gone and it was an interesting one to say the least. There are some great games this week which usually leads to some good Fantasy Numbers. Injuries are starting to creep in and we are here to help you try to navigate the worst part of Fantasy Football. You can always find us on twitter (@theUpsidePlay) where you can ask us your Start and Sit questions. As always thank you for joining us and we hope we have helped you win your matchup.
QB Starts
Kirk Cousins at Philadelphia
The Vikings offense, as a whole, looks much better under Kevin O’Connell. After throwing for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns in week 1, Cousins goes up against an Eagles defense who gave up 2 passing touchdowns to Jared Goff. The Vikings offense with Justin Jefferson, Adam Theilen and Dalvin Cook can light up scoreboards and that is exactly what I am expecting on Monday Night Football this week.
Carson Wentz at Detroit
Carson Wentz had himself a game in week 1 going for 313 yards and 4 touchdowns while finishing as the QB3 on the week. The Lions defense is a work in progress and can be beat through the air. There is a good chance Wentz is still on Waivers in your league so if you need a Dak Prescott replacement or if you are a QB Streamer, Wentz is one of the best options for this week.
QB Sits
Ryan Tannehill at Buffalo
Tannehill threw 2 touchdowns in week 1 but now has a very tough matchup against the well rested Bills defense who had three interceptions in week 1. There are better options on Waivers as the Titans offense still scares me for Fantasy purposes.
RB Starts
Cordarrelle Patterson vs Los Angeles Rams
Patterson picked up right where he left off last season and is still a major part of The Falcons offense. He had 120 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries and added 3 catches for 16 yards. Patterson will continue to be a big part of the Falcons offense who will be a much better unit than we thought. Patterson should be viewed as a weekly top 20 option with receiving upside.
James Robinson vs Indianapolis
Robinson, coming off a late season Achilles tear, came out and showed to be the lead back for the Jaguars. Robinson had a 11 carry, 66 yards and 1 Touchdown rushing line and scored a 3 yard receiving touchdown on his only catch. Etienne is still getting used to the NFL game as week 1 was his first career game so Etienne (who is also coming off a major injury) finds his footing, Robinson is a very good option running behind a much improved O- Line and a Doug Pederson led offense who likes his RBs.
RB Sits
Rashaad Penny at San Francisco
The 49ers defense is much better than what they put on tape last week and with Kenneth Walker coming back from his injury, Pete Carroll will look to get him involved which will make the situation a little murky for Penny.
WR Starts
Amon-Ra St. Brown vs Washington
St. Brown is a budding star for the Lions and he flashed his potential in week one as he caught 8 of his 12 targets for 64 yards (all three led the team) and a touchdown. Washington’s secondary gave up 6 catches for 117 yards to Christian Kirk last week and, to be honest, looked like a beatable unit. ARSB is a legit talent and as long as Jared Goff is hyper-targeting him he should be a mainstay in your lineups.
Christian Kirk vs Indianapolis
The Jags paid Christian Kirk a ton of money to come in and be their WR1 and that's exactly what he did. He caught 6 balls on 12 targets for 117 yards. Kirk will continue to lead the Jags in targets and against the Colts secondary that didn’t look too great against Texans, Kirk is set up nicely to have another solid game as he looks to reach the end zone for the first time as a Jaguar.
WR Sits
Darnell Mooney vs Green Bay
I love the talent of Darnell Mooney but he will most likely be shadowed by All-Pro Jaire Alexander making it a tough night for him. The Bears offensive line is terrible which is not good for a deep threat WR who needs time to let his route develop. I do not expect the Bears to be scoring much in this game.
TE Start
Pat Freiermuth vs New England
The Muth was the Steelers leader in receiving yards in week one and second in targets and catches. The Patriots defense will try to take away Diontae Johnson (which is much easier said than done) so Freiermuth should continue to stay involved in the offense. Freiermuth has a high floor even without a TD and could see the 5 for 50 receiving baseline on a weekly basis.
TE Sit
Mike Gesicki
Tua threw the ball 33 times and only 1 of them went to Mike Gesicki (for only 1 yard). That’s behind blocking TE Durham Smythe and FB Alec Ingold. Gesicki is not a part of this passing offense that looks like it’s going through Hill and Waddle.
