We always want to start off by saying Thank You for coming back to The Upside Play for your weekly lineup choices. Week 3 has some interesting matchups which will be fun to watch and will be fun to follow from a Fantasy Football aspect. As always we will be on twitter all day on Sunday answering all your lineup and trade questions!
QB Starts
Justin Fields @ Browns
Fields is making his first career start against a Browns defense who is surprisingly giving up the third most points per game to the QB position (27.88 PPG). Fields is an electric player who can make plays happen with his legs as well. He had 10 carries in a limited role last week and that kind of volume is the perfect floor for any QB. Fields has solid weapons around him to make big plays and be able to rack up those coveted Fantasy Points.
Daniel Jones vs Falcons
Daniel Jones is the QB4 right now and he has started off the season great. The Falcons might be the worst defense in the league. They are giving up a league leading 29.05 Fantasy Points per game to the QB position and that makes Daniel Jones a Must Start. He’s doing a lot through the air but his rushing upside is key to his weekly production.
QB Sit
Ben Roethlisberger vs Bengals
Big Ben has yet to score over 15 fantasy points in a game this season and is dealing with a Pectoral injury he suffered in the week 2 loss against the Raiders. His Offensive Line isn't holding up as the Steelers thought it would. He's already showing frustration in the play calling from the OC. Big Ben is sitting until the Steelers can return to being a high powered offense.
RB Starts
Myles Gaskin @ Raiders
Myles Gaskin is in a tricky spot this week. He’s playing alongside a backup QB in Jacoby Brissett but he’s playing a Raiders defense who gave up the 3rd most TDs to opposing RBs last season and have allowed 18+ point games to both backs they’ve faced this season. Gaskin is involved enough in the pass game to see his floor raised and against an improving but still vulnerable defense we should see Gaskin really take the lion's share of the work.
Ty’Son Williams vs Lions
Ty’Son Williams is officially the RB1 in Baltimore after 2 straight games with double digit touches. The Lions are giving up 37.40 points per game to the RB position. Williams should eat in this game and if he held onto the ball at the goal line we are talking about a 20+ point performance last week. Williams is a great start this week and it would not surprise me if we saw a top 10 RB week from him.
RB Sits
Rams and 49ers Running Backs
The Rams are going up against a stingy Bucs rushing defense and on top of that Darrell Henderson is banged up and will be a game-time decision. The 49ers have injuries to all their RBs and could be running out there with some patch work at the position and playing on Sunday Night it would be smart to pivot away from the situation.
WR Starts
Tyler Boyd @ Steelers
The Steelers defense is banged up and couldn’t stop Derek Carr last week. With Tee Higgins likely out for Sunday (check back with us on twitter @TheUpsidePlay for updates) Boyd should see an uptick in targets from Joe Burrow who needs to have a good game after last week's disappointing performance. Boyd should be treated as a low end WR2 for this AFC North bout.
Marvin Jones vs Cardinals
Marvin Jones has quietly emerged as the top target in Jacksonville and can be fired up with confidence this week. Arizona’s front is very good but their secondary can be beat and The Jags will be playing from behind in this one and we should see Lawrence drop back a ton. Marvin Jones is a top 20 WR this season and has 20 targets and 2 touchdowns already this season.
WR Sits
Brandon Aiyuk vs Packers
Aiyuk is talented forsure and the Packers can be beat through the air, but we need to see it before we throw him in our lineups. As of right now I would rather have Aiyuk sit on my bench until we get more clarity on his situation.
TE Start
Jared Cook @ Chiefs
This game figures to be a shoot out. Cook should be hovering around thay 5-8 target range and always has upside for a redzone TD. Cook has a solid chance to get to that 10 point PPR threshold without a TD.
TE Sit
Mike Gesicki @ Raiders
Gesicki is playing with a backup QB and is already struggling to find value. I would start a guy like Jared Cook or Austin Hooper over Gesicki.
