Week 8: Start Em' and Sit Em'

Writer's picture: Vincenzo SciacquaVincenzo Sciacqua

Week 8 is here and just like that we’re about half way done with the season. These games start getting more important for NFL teams and for Fantasy managers. Making the right choices now is more important than ever and you can count on us to help you work through all the questions you may have. Stick with us on Twitter @TheUpsidePlay for Starts and Sits, News and Advice.

QB Start

Kirk Cousins vs Cowboys

  • The Cowboys defense has already allowed 3 QB1 games this season. The Cowboys defense has been creating turnovers at an insane rate but are also giving up the 5th most passing yards with 295 per game. With the projected point total in this game being 55 points, Cousins and his top tier options have an opportunity to produce legit numbers this week.

Teddy Bridgewater vs Washington

  • Washington’s defense has been one the worst units in football giving up the most passing yards per game (300.9) and points per game (30). Teddy Bridgewater is getting back second year stud Jerry Juedy to reunite with Noah Fant and Courtland Sutton. Bridgewater is a deeper option in leagues but against a terrible defense and a group of top tier weapons, Teddy B has a chance to jump up into a top 15 finish.

QB Sit

Tua Tagovailoa at Bills

  • Tua is coming off of two good games since coming off the IR but has a terrible matchup against the Bills. Buffalo is only allowing 16.3 points per game (best in NFL) and only 180.5 passing yards per game (best in NFL). I will be looking elsewhere this week.

RB Start

Damian Harris at Chargers

  • Damian Harris looks to be fully unleashed for Bill Belicheck. Harris has had over 100 yards in back to back games and he’s perfectly in line for another one as he plays the Chargers who have given up 163 rush yards per game this season (Last in NFL). Harris is firmly in the high RB2 ranks this week.

Elijah Mitchell at Bears

  • In the 4 games that Mitchell has been active he's had 17 or more carries in 3 of those. He is the best back on that team right now and against the Bears who are average against the run. Mitchell is explosive and has the ability to take it to the house at any moment. As long as Kyle Shanahan is smart enough to keep Mitchell in the game he should return some very solid numbers.

RB Sit

MIke Davis vs Panthers

  • If you roster Mike Davis you should know why he’s a sit this week. Davis isn't getting the work needed to hold value and the matchup still favors Patterson this week.

WR Start

Michael Pittman Jr. vs Titans

  • Carson Wentz is playing great right now and Michael Pittman Jr is becoming his top option. Pittman had 4 catches for 105 yards and a TD in last week's win against the 49ers. Tennessee has given up 9 top 24 WR games this season and with the Titans offense clicking it could lead to the Colts needing to rely on Wentz and Pittman Jr.

Courtland Sutton vs Washington

  • We went over how bad the Football Team’s defense is and Sutton should still be the top target while Jeudy is still getting back to full health. Sutton has been great this year and against the terrible Washington defense Sutton should stay atop the Broncos passing attack.

WR Sit

Laviska Shenault vs Seahawks

  • Laviska is just tough to trust right now as the Jacksonville offense is still figuring out how to play with rookie Trevor Lawrence. If I can find another option I would.

TE Start

Pat Freiermuth at Cleveland

  • With Juju Smith Schuster out for the year and Eric Ebron out for this game Freiermuth should be the top TE option and the main Safety blanket in the middle of the field for Big Ben. Coming off a 7 target game we should see the volume continue for the Rookie Tight End.
