If you were to tell us 7 weeks ago that the 2-5 Washington Football Team would be half a game back from first place in the NFC East, we would have believed you because we know sports.
This week was action packed with close games between Super Bowl contenders and great matchups between promising stars, as well as the consistent domination of elite teams and the downhill spiral of some of the lesser teams. Let’s take a look at some the things we learned.
The future looks bright in the NFL. In a showdown between two #1 picks, the young stars did not disappoint. Joe Burrow threw for 400 yards and 3 touchdowns as Baker Mayfield threw for almost 300 yards with 5 touchdowns, one of those touchdowns a game winner with 15 seconds left. While things look better than ever for the future of the Cleveland football, the team did take a step back when Odell Beckham Jr. tore his ACL a couple days ago. Cleveland will have to overcome some more adversity to continue this impressive season.
The Arizona Cardinals might just be an elite team. In a Sunday Night shootout against rivals and NFC favorites Seattle Seahawks, the Cardinals made a name for themselves. Totaling more than 400 yards under the lights, Kyler Murray proved he was worth the first overall pick. Deandre Hopkins continues to prove he was worth all Arizona spent on him with 100 receiving yards and a touchdown. All this mixed in with the creative coaching show that this team can be good for a long time. Was this a preview of the NFC Conference Championship game?
The Packers bounced back and showed how unstoppable they are when Aaron Rodgers gets going. Rodgers was surgical in his performance against the Texans getting the ball often to Davante Adams who had no trouble getting open. As unfamiliar as their names may be, Aaron Rodgers has shown he has enough to produce. The only question now, is there defense complete enough for them to contend?
Heading into week 8, we cannot answer all the questions. Are the Bills overrated? Is Washington good enough to steal the division? Only time will tell. Until then, let’s check out the week 7 fantasy’s The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Who else had OBJ in all leagues?
