Bye Weeks are starting to really hurt peoples Fantasy Rosters and Week 8 is another tough week. Hopefully you looked ahead and found options before reading this but if you didn't that's okay we will try to point you in the right direction. Come join us on Twitter @TheUpsidePlay every Sunday Morning for our Starts and Sits Q&A.
Teams on a Bye: Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Football Team
QB Starts:
Carson Wentz, Eagles
Carson Wentz will be getting Jalen Reagor and Dallas Goedert back this week and face a Dallas Defense giving up over 20 Points to the QB position. Wentz is Fantasy Footballs #8 QB (6 pt Tds) and has been giving Fantasy Managers a nice rushing floor with 5 rushing touchdowns on the year. With Wentz’s weapons getting healthy he's set up nicely for a huge game.
Derek Carr, Raiders
Derek Carr is surprisingly having a very good year so far with 1726 passing yards 13 Touchdowns and only 2 picks. He’s had over 20 points in every game since week 1 and gets the Cleveland Browns who are top 10 in points given up to the QB Position. Carr has used Waller a ton and has even made Nelson Agholor relevant (4TDs on 15 catches). Carr has a nice floor for this game and could have major upside if he can connect with Henry Ruggs for a deep TD.
QB Sit:
Kirk Cousins, Vikings
Kirk Cousins is the #24 QB on the season and now faces a Packers D who is surprisingly only giving up 17 Points per game to the QB position. Green bay has 15 sacks this season and 4 takeaways. Cousins is known for throwing picks in bunches and that takeaway number could rise on sunday. I would find another option if you can.
RB Starts:
Jonathan Taylor, Colts
Jonathan Taylor hasn’t had the year we thought he would once Marlon mack went down with injury but he hasn't been terrible. He has had over 13 points in every game this season except 1 (@ Chicago) and has seen over 14 touches in every single game. This could be the ultimate get right game against the Lions Defense who is allowing over 29 points per game to the RB position. Fresh off his bye Week Taylor is a Must start in week 8.
Josh Jacobs, Raiders
Jacobs put up a dud against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers great run defense last week but gets a much better matchup in week 8 with the Cleveland Browns. Josh Jacobs doesn’t have to fend off anyone for touches and will be on the field a ton in this game and it should be a close game where the Raiders don’t need to go into full passing mode like last week. Jacobs has 394 yards and 5 Touchdowns this year and has almost matched his Receiving total from last year (18/122). Fire up Josh Jacobs and you won’t be disappointed. (I hope)
RB Sit:
James Conner RB, Steelers
James Conner has been very good this season and it’s been good to see him healthy and leading the Steelers backfield. Conner now gets a matchup against the Baltimore Ravens allowing a total of 81 yards per game to the RB. I understand It will be hard to replace Conner with the way the RB landscape is this season but you will for sure have to lower your expectation for this week.
WR Starts:
DK Metcalf, Seahawks
DK Metcalf is good at Football. Last week was his first game where he didn’t have over 90 yards or 4 catches. The 49ers defense is banged up and won’t be able to stop Metcalf from running free over the middle. DK Metcalf has entered the “Matchup Proof” zone and should be in for a normal game from him.
Tee Higgins, Bengals
Joe Burrow has shown that he can play in this league and do it at a very high level and Tee Higgins has been a big reason why. The 2020 2nd round pick has 27 catches for 410 yards and 3 touchdowns so far and has shown the ability to hit on the big play. Higgins is my top Dynasty buy at the moment and should be viewed as a top 24 fantasy receiver for the Rest of the Season.
WR Sit:
Justin Jefferson, Vikings
Packers Cornerback Jaire Alexander has been shutting down everyone he covers and it's believed that Alexander will be the one on Jefferson. Jefferson has been great this season but this week he will probably be better off on your bench.
TE Start:
Jonnu Smith, Titans
Jonnu Smith is Fantasy Football’s number 5 TE and that's with a bye week and two weeks under 2.5 points. Smith is an athletic freak who works very well in the Titans Offense. The Bengals have allowed 18 points per game to TE’s this season and Jonnu Smith could be the next man to take advantage of the Bengals poor Defense.
TE Sit:
Evan Engram, Giants
Evan Engram leads the league in drops with 6 on the season. The Buccaneers defense has been good all season and Daniel Jones will have a tough time getting anything going on Monday Night. With Sterling Shepard back in the fold he will demand targets and it could come from Engram’s Target share. I would find another option for this week.
Sleepers
QB- Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins
Tua was a top NFL draft pick for a reason and he can show us this week that he was deserving of it. The Matchup isn’t the greatest but the left handed Rookie only has a couple of passes of film to his NFL career and could really surprise the Rams Defense. Tua is a desperation play but could be a weekly starter very soon.
RB- JaMycal Hasty, 49ers
All the 49ers running backs are injured and that only leads explosive rookie Hasty, Jerick McKinnon and Tevin Coleman who will come off of IR this week. Hasty is an explosive runner with soft hands and could be a very good flex play against the Seahawks.
WR- Deonte Harris, Saints
The Saints WR injuries are well documented and that leaves Harris and TreQuon Smith as the only healthy options. Harris is athletic and explosive and it could only take one catch for him to put up big numbers.
TE- Irv Smith Jr.
Irv Smith has 4 catches for at least 55 yards in each of the last two games and could see the same production again. With the limited options at TE Smith has a very safe floor and could benefit from Jefferson being locked up by Jaire Alexander.
